July 3, 2023

The San Joaquin Valley in the heart of California, is a gateway to breathtaking destinations just a short drive away. With its central location, the Valley residents are able to escape and embark on unforgettable family adventures. From stunning natural wonders to charming small towns and cultural hotspots, the San Joaquin Valley is a great starting point to diverse experiences.

Yosemite National Park. Approximately a two-hour drive from the San Joaquin Valley, Yosemite National Park is the perfect spot for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. This iconic national park boasts awe-inspiring granite cliffs, cascading waterfalls, ancient sequoia groves and rivers. From rock climbing and camping to wildlife spotting and photography, Yosemite offers an abundance of activities for every adventurer.

Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Located just east of the San Joaquin Valley, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks are home to some of the world's largest and oldest trees including General Sherman, the largest living tree on Earth. Stroll through the Giant Forest or opt for scenic drives, picnics, hiking trails and backpacking experiences.

Lake Kaweah. Located east of Visalia, Lake Kaweah is a popular nearby destination for water activities such as boating, fishing and swimming. Formed by the construction of Terminus Dam on the Kaweah River, Lake Kaweah stretches across approximately 1,945 acres when full. The lake offers picnic areas, hiking trails and opportunities for wildlife spotting.

Three Rivers. This charming town lies at the entrance to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks in the foothills of the Serra Nevada. Three Rivers, which is named for sitting at the confluence of the Kaweah, Middle and South Forks rivers, offers art galleries, shops, and restaurants. You can also take a scenic horseback ride, hike trails or visit the local historical museum.
