Walking Trails in the Central Valley

November 23, 2020

Now that the cooler weather has arrived, it’s a lovely time to take advantage of the beautiful hiking and walking paths in and around our Central Valley. From easy to hard, there are plenty of trails throughout this area to enjoy for the whole family. Here is a quick list of some of our favorites!

Jane’s Loop Drive to Tehachapi for this 1.5 intermediate hike. The route is a loop, and the trail is open from sunrise to sunset. Views include slopes facing the Lehigh quarry and expansive meadows. And it’s dog friendly!

Aimee’s Loop Also in Tehachapi is this easy 1+ mile loop for beginners. It’s family friendly and connects up to Jane’s Loop as well if you want to extend your outdoor time.

Porterville Rails to the Trails More of a walk than a hike, this trail is a 1.3-mile path that is a converted railway and runs through Porterville. It has benches and water fountains along the way.

St. John’s River Trail This tranquil trail is good for walking and biking and connects Cutler Park and River Way Sports Park. It is a tree-dotted, nearly four-mile path in Visalia.

Santa Fe Trail Located in Tulare along the old Santa Fe railroad, this 4.5 mile path runs east to west across the central portion of town connecting residential areas to the downtown commercial area. This landscaped path has separate walking, biking and equestrian areas. It has multiple rest stops and drinking fountains along the way.

If you are searching for a new home, please know San Joaquin Valley Homes is still busy building homes throughout the Central Valley. Our model homes are open daily, we offer private in-person appointments and our virtual tours are available on our website.
