Local home builder closes on 549 new homes in San Joaquin Valley, comes out on top as most active builder in region

SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY – Despite a sluggish housing market being hampered by increased mortgage rates, SJV Homes has emerged as the dominant home builder within the San Joaquin Valley for the year 2023.

As announced by San Joaquin Valley Homes (SJV Homes) on Feb. 27, the local homebuilder successfully concluded the sale of 549 newly constructed homes within the region, amassing a revenue of over $241 million.

According to data from the Construction Monitor, which tracks building records nationwide, SJV Homes secured more permits in both Kings and Tulare counties in 2023 than any other national or local homebuilder. Joe Leal, co-founder of SJV Homes, expressed optimism about the Central Valley housing market’s prospects for the upcoming year via the announcement.

“As we embark on another exciting year, we’re optimistic about the opportunities ahead in the Central Valley housing market,” said Leal. “With interest rates becoming more favorable, we’re poised to maintain a healthy pace of acquisitions and home building with solid sales rates in 2024.”

In 2023, SJV Homes not only sold out three communities, it also inaugurated two new neighborhoods. Looking forward, the company intends to expand its footprint significantly, with plans to introduce nine new communities and expand existing ones, adding approximately 1,600 new homes to the Valley.

The planned communities for 2024 include:

  • Brookside (111 lots) and Laurelwood (118 lots) in Porterville
  • Sycamore Ranch (92 lots) in Visalia
  • Stonebrook (133 lots) and Granite Hills (156 lots) in Goshen
  • Blossom Hill (289 lots) and Somerset (187 lots) in Sanger
  • Falcon Ridge (82 lots) and Wrenwood (89 lots) in Delano
  • Montebella (113 lots) in Dinuba
  • Maplewood (87 lots) in Visalia
  • Hidden Oaks (157 lots) in Hanford

Additionally, last summer marked SJV Homes’ 10th anniversary, and the company recently celebrated the closing of its 4,000th home since its establishment in 2013. Presently, SJV Homes offers homes in various communities across Delano, Dinuba, Hanford, Kingsburg, Reedley, Tulare and Visalia.

For homes that are currently available in Tulare County, there is Maplewood and Vista del Sol in Visalia, Cypress Park and Kensington in Tulare and Montebella in Dinuba. As for Fresno County, homes are currently available at San Rio in Reedley.
