University of California, Merced. The University of California, Merced, is the first and only research university in the San Joaquin Valley. Fresno City College. Fresno City College, established in 1910, serves as a vital educational hub in Central Valley. Offering two-year associate degree programs, transfer opportunities and various vocational programs, it is a stepping stone to higher education for many local students.

 

Modesto Junior College. Located in Modesto, Modesto Junior College provides affordable education and transfer opportunities for students who want to pursue bachelor's degrees at four-year institutions and has been serving Modesto and the surrounding communities for 100 years.
